A woman and two children are okay after a Wausau car accident Wednesday.
According to officials with the Wausau Police Department, the family escaped injury in a crash on Townline Avenue just east of 13th street shortly after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday. Police say the woman was traveling westbound on Townline Ave. when she lost control of her vehicle, struck a tree, and careened into a ditch on the side of the road. The impact of the crash caused the tree to fall on top of the vehicle, severely damaging the car.
The woman was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and the two young children were buckled into car seats, police say.
No one was taken to the hospital following the crash, the woman was treated at the scene for minor injuries and released.
Police continue to investigate the cause of the crash. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
