A woman driving a Dodge Durango with her husband and four children inside lost control of the vehicle while traveling north on Wisconsin 213.

The bad weather conditions may have played a role in her inability to keep the vehicle on the northbound side of the highway. When she crossed over into oncoming traffic, her vehicle hit a southbound car head-on. That southbound car was being driven by a Middleton man.

The woman, along with her husband and four children were all injured in the car accident. The driver of the other vehicle was hurt as well. They were all taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries, and three of the individuals are said to be in critical condition. After the accident occurred, Wisconsin 213 was shut down for one hour near Orfordville so that police could investigate the crash.

A two-car accident that took place early Tuesday morning near the Sheboygan county line has left one dead and three others injured.

The accident occurred when a 34-year-old Sheboygan woman lost control of her car on the slick icy roads and crossed over into oncoming traffic. Her car struck another vehicle that was being driven by a 23-year-old man. The woman died on impact at the scene of the accident. Her passenger was taken to a hospital after he suffered severe injuries, but he is not listed in critical condition.

The man that was hit also had a six-year-old passenger in his vehicle with him at the time. It was determined that both were wearing seatbelts during the crash and sustained moderate injuries.

Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends during this tragic time.

Public data has been released by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation revealing the number of traffic fatalities in 2011.

The data shows that there were 569 deaths due to traffic accidents in Wisconsin during the 2011 fiscal year. This number marks the fourth straight year that there have been less than 600 fatalities in the state. The last time this was accomplished in Wisconsin was during 1924-1927.

The number of motorcyclists who were killed declined by 18 percent in 2011, dropping from 103 deaths to 85. The state is still hopeful that the number of preventable deaths can decrease even more in the coming years.

This holiday season, the Wausau Family Resource Center will be participating in the United Way Bundles of Joy program. This program raises money to purchase formula and diapers for strained families.

This year, the organization has hopes to raise $10,000 to put towards the effort and has already helped 1,000 families with extra funds from last year’s drive. A grant set up through the B.A. & Esther Greenheck Foundation will match donations totaling up to $5,000. Any and all donations are gladly accepted to contribute to this helpful organization.

The Wausau Center will double as a gift wrapping center where individuals can volunteer to wrap the formula and diapers to distribute during the month of December. The center is made up completely of volunteers who are eager to contribute to this great cause.

The Wausau car accident lawyers of Habush Habush & Rottier, S.C. would like to wish everyone a happy and safe holiday season.
